Every dog is different. Individual allergies and sensitivities are common — always introduce new foods in small amounts and watch for adverse reactions. This site is for informational purposes only and is not veterinary advice. Always consult your vet.
The Full Picture
Plain, fully cooked pork is safe for dogs in moderation. It provides protein, B vitamins, and essential amino acids. However, pork must be thoroughly cooked to kill the parasite Trichinella spiralis, which causes trichinosis. Never serve raw or undercooked pork. Avoid pork products that are processed (bacon, ham, sausage), seasoned, or high in fat, as these can cause pancreatitis and contain harmful levels of sodium. Remove all bones before serving — cooked pork bones splinter easily.
What You Should Know
While pork is not outright toxic, there are important precautions to bear in mind before sharing it with your dog. Portion size matters, and certain preparations or varieties may be unsafe. If your dog has any existing health conditions, check with your vet first.
